Referrals

At Inspire Children’s Services we understand that moving to a new home can be a stressful and difficult experience for young people and their families.  We also acknowledge that professionals involved in this process have made comprehensive assessments and given careful consideration to the suitability of a referral to our service.

Our referral and admission procedures therefore have been designed to minimise, as much as possible, the anxieties surrounding a move. Wherever possible our aim is to collaborate with referring agencies in relation to planned admissions.

Following initial contact by the placing social worker there will be a general discussion regarding the young person and the services available to them.  We thereafter request copies of relevant reports to assisit our initial assessment.

If both parties are satisfied that Inspire Children’s Services is the appropiate placement for the young person then the referring social worker and/or placement officer is invited to inspect the proposed home, meet the staff team and assure themselves of the suitability of our service.

Unless already received, we would require access to the Child’s Plan, relevant background reports and a chronology of the young person’s life and experiences.  This will assist us to gain an understanding of the needs of the young person and to consider the level of resources required.

Should the placing authority wish to proceed with the arrangements, a visit will be arranged to meet with the young person and where appropriate their parents/carers.  This will provide an opportunity for the young person to discuss any apprehension about the move and for us to explain the process of what would be the next stage for them.  Thereafter a visit to the home will be arranged with the young person’s agreement.

If you wish further information or would like to make a referral to Inspire Children’s Services please contact us on the number below in the first instance and a referral form will be sent to you.
